Most second hand analysers are sold by liquidators who cannot switch them on. This one was prepared by a UK point of care testing company. In August 2026 we:
- Updated the instrument to the current Abbott operating software, OSi24, the most up to date release
- Confirmed it powers on and completes its internal self checks with no fault flags
- Ran the Abbott electronic simulator check: pass
- Verified wireless result transmission to laboratory software over the standard POCT1-A2 interface, the protocol used by laboratory middleware and data managers
- Confirmed the printer prints and both batteries hold charge

What you will need alongside it
- i-STAT test cartridges: lot controlled, dated consumables supplied by Abbott and their distributors. None are included
- Quality control material and your own verification before clinical use, under your local SOP and governance
- An Abbott account if you want their service cover. No service contract or service history transfers with the instrument, which is normal for the second hand market

Questions buyers ask
Is the software really current?
Yes. The current Abbott operating software, OSi24, was installed in August 2026 and is the most up to date release. You can see this on the Software Status screen in the photos. Abbott publishes i-STAT software updates periodically and they are free to registered users of their website, so keeping the instrument current costs nothing.
Can it send results to our laboratory system or middleware?
Yes. The i-STAT Alinity transmits over POCT1-A2, the standard protocol that laboratory middleware and data managers consume. We verified result transmission from this exact instrument in August 2026.
Are cartridges included?
No. i-STAT cartridges are dated, lot controlled consumables. You will need a cartridge supply from Abbott or their distributor for ongoing testing.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. United States: insured, tracked courier at £99, also available directly through the eBay listing. The i-STAT Alinity is an FDA cleared model marketed in the US by Abbott; the buyer is the importer of record and covers any import duties and taxes. Other destinations: tell us where and we quote insured carriage at cost. Payment for international orders is by SWIFT wire transfer before dispatch.
Why is a POCT training and consultancy company selling an analyser?
We buy and prepare instruments as part of our work. When one is surplus we sell it on, tested and honestly described, which is more than most of the second hand market offers.
